East Palo Alto, California (FPRC) May 27, 2010  -- This quarter’s membership meeting for One East Palo Alto has the opportunity to host a convening for the University Plaza Development in East Palo Alto. Refreshments will be provided.

University Plaza Meeting

Due to the economy the University Plaza Development has had to apply for an extension to delay the construction so they can have for time to gather new leasees to fill the building.  This extension has been filed for a period of three years.  With the extension request the developer has agreed to provide approximately $20,000 to use towards something on the site or in the community during the extension period.

One East Palo Alto has been chosen to host a community convening to find out what the people of this community can agree upon to fill the void of the development until construction can begin.  During the convening will will be breaking off into smaller groups to brainstorm and by the end of the session the goal is to reach an overall consensus to bring to the developer.

There is a wealth of opportunity in this community to bring something to the table, whether permanent or temporary, that can do a lot of good and this is an opportunity for this community to decide something together to get rid of a big eyesore in the front face of the community. - Curtis Monette, east palo alto resident.

We hope that the residents of East Palo Alto come out and bring forth some well thought-out ideas to the table Wednesday, June 9 2010 at College Track, 1877 Bay Road, East Palo Alto, from 6:00pm - 8:30 pm.
